CONGRATULATIONS to the U12 United 98 boys for going undefeated this past Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 season. The United 98 boys played in the Challenge South division and had 18 wins 0 losses and 0 ties. This is a tremendous accomplishment and an achievement rarely seen. The United 98 team scored an astounding 82 goals during the 18 games, and the boys only allowed 11 goals against them. This is an unbelievable display of consistency, especially in a crazy game like soccer. The boys showed character and determination through the season, and continually improved as individuals and as a team. The United 98 group played some great soccer and really was a joy to watch. They are exemplary in the way they play the game and carry themselves, and it is a true testament to the quality of coach they have, the young men they are and the families that make up this great team. So congrats to coach Steve Martin, the United 98 players and their families, we will continue to look for great things from you all next year. All the best!!!!!

U11 Girls Coach Announcements for 2010/2011
|
Kaeli Vandersluis, Darcy Jerman, Sarah Schweiss, Andi Tostanoski and Cate Parchinski followed up on their regional success back in January by helping the Colorado 93/94 ODP team to a 5-1 victory over Missouri to capture the ODP National Championships on Sunday. Highlights from the weekend for our girls were goals by Schweiss, Jerman and Parchinski in the final 20 minutes to seal victory in the Championship game. Vandersluis played an integral role in defense and Tostanoski added to an already memorable weekend by winning the golden glove award. What a fantastic accomplishment girls. Congratulations! Full game reports by US Soccer are below.
The second game in the 1993 Girls was a rollercoaster of momentum that ended in a 5-3 victory for Colorado over Georgia. In just the second minute, Colorado's Sarah Schweiss was fouled inside the penalty box and Catherine Parchinski converted for the early 1-0 lead. In the 25th minute Colorado once again earned a penalty kick, but this time Parchinski's shot was saved by Georgia keeper Tessa Lukens. Georgia took advantage as they grabbed the equalizer three minutes later after a long free kick dropped into the box and bounced over the keeper's head, off the crossbar, and right to Erin Faulk who headed it in for a 1-1 score headed into halftime. Colorado exploded out of the break with four goals in the first 20 minutes. Carly Bolyard got it started, scoring on two 40 yard free kicks in the 46th and 56th. Bolyard then set up Parchinski's second goal which was headed in off a corner kick, making it 4-1 in the 63rd. Darcy Jerman made it 5-1 two minutes later, finishing with a nice shot from 20 yards. Georgia wasn't about to hand the game over as they struck twice in the 75th and 77th on goals from Cheyna Williams and Cara Smith, but it wasn't enough as the game ended 5-3 for Colorado.
Colorado's offense once again overwhelmed their opponent as they claimed the 1993 Girls championship 5-1 against Missouri, matching the five goals they scored in the semifinal. Francesca Garzelloni got things started with goals in the 15th and 32nd minutes to give Colorado a two goal lead at halftime. Missouri pulled themselves back in the game after the break with a goal from Shea Groom in the 53rd, but Colorado sealed the game with goals from Darcy Jerman, Sarah Schweiss and Catherine Parchinski in the final 20 minutes. The victory gives Colorado their first ODP Championship since 2004, and their first ever girl's title.
When you think of everything a U17 soccer player would wish for Alex seems to have accomplished it in these past few months’ said coach Sian Hudson. Alex has followed up her invite to the Interregional camp back in December with being honored with the High School Scholar All-American Award out at the NSCAA convention in Philadelphia . To get this award, Alex had to make the High School Scholar All-Region Team. Academic achievements are just as important as athletic accomplishments when considering players for this award and outside of having outstanding academic scores Alex’s work in the community was also taken into consideration. Only 36 players across the nation received this award, and Alex was one of only two from the west.
To top off both of the above Alex signed her letter of intent last week with the CU Buffs. Alex received an athletic scholarship to attend CU and Coach Bill Hempen had some high words of praise for her in his press conference. He stated that he sees Alex as a replacement for their current national team player Nickki Marshall. Marshall actually just got drafted as the 7th overall pick in the WPS draft to play for the Washington Freedom. Click on the following link if you would like to see the press conference .
Good luck with all your future endeavors Alex.
The following coaches were honored at the CYS award dinner:

World Cup Pride Style |
| At a time where soccer seems to be getting more and more serious with our younger age groups we took a different approach to our girls’ winter clinic this year. In an effort to educate the players on the World Cup tournament that will be taking place in South Africa in 2010 we split the girls into four teams (England, Brazil, Germany and Italy). In addition to the training session each week the girls were given soccer homework that they had to complete that earned points for their world cup team. Camp Director Sian Hudson said ‘the girls really got into it. Each week they went above and beyond with their homework tasks and really enjoyed the festival atmosphere that we created. It was definitely a camp that not only worked on improving the players’ skills but one that created a positive and fun environment at the same time. Congratulations to Brazil and Italy for their victories but to all the players for the effort they put forth’. |
Kaeli Vanderslius, Sarah Schweiss, Cate Parchinski, Andi Tostanoski and Darcy Jerman (pictured left to right) were 5 of the 16 girls selected to represent the 93/94 CO team at the ODP Championships in Phoenix, AZ January 16-19. All five girls played a key role in helping CO beat Southern California in both pool play and in the final to take the Region IV ODP Championship. While Jerman, Vandersluis, Parchinski and Schweiss have all represented the state team at this level previously a special mention has to go to Andi Tostanoski who was the only goalkeeper on the team and who, according to State Director Nate Shotts made some huge saves during the tournament.
This is the first time a CO team has qualified for Nationals for a few years and is all the more memorable when you consider that So Cal dominates the Championships every year and this year claimed 5 of the 8 titles. Pride would like to tell all 5 girls how proud we are of their accomplishments and wish them all the best as they prepare for the National ODP Championships in Phoenix, AZ March 11-14 2010. Way to go Girls!
The 2009 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys 1992 Winter Interregional is scheduled Dec. 11-13 at Wilson Gillette Soccer Complex in Wilson, N.C. The US Youth Soccer ODP Boys 1992 Interregional event is held in conjunction with the NCAA Division I College Cup Championships to provide greater exposure of these elite players to collegiate and national team coaches. US Youth Soccer is divided into four regions, Region I (East), Region II (Midwest), Region III (South) and Region IV (West) to assist in national competitions. Daniel will be playing for Region IV and the only representative selected from Colorado in this age group.
Kaylyn Smith, Courtney Domme and Tanner Haughn selected for 96 Regional Camp |
The Girls will be heading to CA for the 96 Regional Christmas Event taking place from December 28-31st. This is not only an outstanding individual accomplishment for each of the girls but great for the club to have three of 75 players selected from the 14 states representing region IV. Good Luck Girls! |
What started out as just another soccer camp turned into a dream come true for Robby Jacobs. During a family vacation in England last summer Robby participated in one of Manchester United’s Soccer Schools. During the week Robby entered and won a skills contest against 75 other boys in the 8-11 year old division. While Robby was thrilled to win that contest he had no idea what that victory would lead to......

Great Job!
Each year during the CYS annual general meeting MVP'S from the previous year State Cup Finalists are honored. This year Pride had four players recognized for their outstanding effort.

Kudos to both the players and their teams!
Pride Soccer is proud to announce our nominees for CYS Coach of the Year honors.
We salute all of our Pride coaches who without their passion and dedication we would not be able to provide a quality experience.
...this February. His hard work and passion for soccer have allowed him this wonderful opportunity. The article below gives some insight to the ODP process he traveled.
In 2008 Jake went through the State tryout process, which a player would do to make the 93' ODP Colorado State Team. With Jake making the State Team, he was invited to participate in the regional camp.
Select players from all 14 State Associations are invited to participate in the week long Regional Camp, held the week of July 7th, in McMinnville Oregon. The camp schedule would include a state specific daily training session with your state coaches, as well as a match against any one of the different States in Region IV. The first Invitational match was held on day 3 of camp. Region IV Coaches select players from the 14 State associations to participate in these Invitational games. Jake was excited to be chosen as one of the 44 players. There were 3 Invitational games played during camp and Jake was invited to play in all 3. During the last day closing ceremonies, 36 players are chosen for holdovers. The 36 players chosen for holdovers are asked to stay another week to train and compete against the 92' ODP State Teams. Jake was one of the 36 players asked to stay for holdovers.
In August of 2008, Jake was 1 of 18 players from region IV that received an invite from the region IV Coach to participate in 2008 Christmas Inter-Regional Event. This event was held at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando Florida. The Regional IV Team would be matched up Against teams representing the other 3 regions. Jake was listed as one of the starting 11 players for region IV, and played as a forward for the Team. Region IV finished pool play with 3 wins 0 losses. With the 93 Region IV boys placing 1st in their pool play, they were matched up against the 92 (Region I) 1st place finishers. For this championship friendly, the region IV Coach moved Jake from the forward position to a center middie position, where he played the full 80 minutes.
On January 5th, Jake received an invitation to go to Argentina with the 93' Region IV team this coming February. This Argentina trip will be a 9 day tour, where the team will be training and competing with different Argentine Oppositions. The team will get an opportunity to watch a Boca Junior Match live in their world renown stadium, La Bombonera (home of Diego Maradona). They will also be able to visit and enjoy the experiences of Buenos Aires, the Capital city of Argentina. Jake is looking forward to and is very excited for this opportunity.
After being a part of the U15 National Team Program for the past 2 years Cate Parchinski has achieved what she has been striving for, a call up to the U17 National Team. She will attend the upcoming U17 Camp January 28- February 6, 2009, in Sunrise, Florida. This is the first camp in the new two-year preparation cycle for the U-17 Women’s National Team that will be competing in the 2010 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup. The U.S. came in second place (losing in overtime) at the 2008 U-17 Women’s World Cup. Let’s hope that Cate is leading the US attack in Trinidad and Tobago in 2010. Congratulations and Good Luck Cate!!
After a month of training in freezing temperatures the girls were eager to head down to FL to play in the 70 degree heat. Currently ranked the #1 Soccer Showcase in the country and played at the fabulous Disney Wide World of Sports the girls were excited to have the chance to showcase their game in front of some of the biggest soccer programs in the country.
The girls started the tournament with a 1-0 loss to the New York State Champions Syossett Rough Riders Elite. They certainly controlled the play and had the most chances but never really hit their stride and gave up a late goal. The following day they faced the Charlotte Blue from NC and won a very exciting game 3-1. Even with a 9pm start time the girls got quite a large following of college coaches at the game; including National Finalists Notre Dame and National Champions North Carolina. The final pool play game was against the WI state Champs FC Milwaukee. After going a goal down in the first 10 minutes the girls fought back to win 3-1 and claim a semi final spot against the Virginia State Champs Braddock Road Azul.
It was a hard fought game from start to finish. Braddock Road certainly had their fair share of opportunities to take the lead but couldn’t convert their chances due to some great team defending and big saves. With about 10 minutes remaining the girls found the breakthrough with a quick turn and shot from Jenna Howerton that took their keeper by surprise. The semi final win was a gritty team effort and with injuries starting to pile up the girls only had a matter of hours before playing the final against the #3 ranked team in the nation.
After watching the Michigan Hawks play in pool play the girls knew that they were in for a big challenge. Unlike many of the other teams we faced the Hawks played a technical style similar to ours which suited us. After long periods of domination and several clear cut chances the game ended 0-0 and moved into over time. Half way through the first period of overtime Cate Parchinski headed home a beautiful corner from Darcy Jerman to put the Predators in complete control. Then in injury time and with the last kick of the game the Hawks tied the game 1-1 to send the final into penalties. The girls displayed great character and mental toughness to step up and hit the kicks after being so close to winning the game in over time. Sarah Schweiss, Cate Parchinski, Darcy Jerman and Kaeli Vandersluis all buried their spot kicks and with an exceptional save by Tita Garcia the girls were crowned champions of the Predator Blue Division of the Disney Showcase.

The Colorado Rapids and US Youth Soccer designed the program to recognize student athletes for their contributions both on and off the pitch. Tyson and Kellyn will be honored at the half time of the Rapids game Saturday September 20th.
Tyson carries a 3.65 GPA at Liberty high school, he is actively involved with our Panther Program for special needs kids as a coach and mentor, and in addition to that Tyson is involved in our youth clinics that bring training and development to the younger generation of soccer players giving back to the soccer community.
Tyson is a licensed referee and is frequently seen officiating youth games in the Colorado Springs area.
Kellyn truly embodies the well rounded student athlete. She is an extremely versatile player and has shown her value as a teammate at the club and ODP levels. Kellyn has also dedicated her time as a mentor and friend to several members of the Pride Panther Soccer Program for special needs players.
Kellyn’s dedication to excellence and passion for giving extends far beyond the soccer field. Kellyn was a gold medal winner for her studies and is currently enrolled in the IB program at Rampart High School. Her leadership has earned her a place on the National Junior Honor Society and a nomination for the National Youth Leadership Conference. Kellyn has also volunteered in the Colorado Springs Care N Share community.
Both of these players truly exemplify the vision and spirit of the award.

Diary from Cate:
Back in April Cate Parchinski and Darcy Jerman were selected for the Region IV 93 ODP team’s trip to Costa Rica. This was a fabulous opportunity for both girls not only giving them the opportunity to play against international competition but also the chance to tour a foreign country and experience a new culture. We thought it would be great for them to share their experience by documenting their trip. We hope that as you read through this diary you gain an understanding of what soccer can expose you to on the field but also off it. Hope you enjoy Cate’s recollections of the trip. Thank you Cate for taking the time to write this and for sharing your memories with us! [more] Posted on - 5/13/2008

The Colorado Rapids opened their season against the LA Galaxy, and our U9 PRIDE STRIKERS (Coach-Todd McLain) were at the game. These boys would get closer to the stars than anyone else. The U9 Strikers had the privilege of walking out with the starting eleven players from the LA Galaxy. Greyson Matalus got to walk out with David Beckham, and all the boys had an unbelievable experience. The Galaxy players were great with the Strikers giving them high fives and talking about them as players. It will definitely be a memory these players cherish for the rest of their lives..
